Not All Pens Are the Same!
SkinPen is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device! Achieving the best cosmetic results possible requires the use of the best tools and a highly experienced provider. At Revitalize SkinMD, we offer both of these for the benefit of our clients.
Microneedling is Effective For:
- Fine lines, dull skin, and enlarged pores
- Acne scars, chicken pox scars & some surgical scars
- Fine Nasolabial lines and lip lines (smoker’s lines)
- Rejuvenation of hands, neck, and décolletage
During the treatment, controlled micro-injuries are performed to the skin to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which gradually fill in fine lines, pores, scars, and other skin irregularities to create smoother and more youthful looking skin. The best results are typically achieved with a series of treatments and can be quite amazing!

Frequently Asked Questions About SkinPen Microneedling
What are the benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling can include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. SkinPen can also have a positive effect on the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, dark spots, acne scars and stretch marks and create a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
What areas of the body can be treated?
SkinPen can be used on all parts of the body; face, neck, decollete, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done?
Prior to treatment our certified microneedling professional will apply a topical numbing cream for the patient’s increased comfort during treatment. A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 points is attached to the SkinPen. Next, precise micro injuries will occur to the skin as the SkinPen is gently pressed against the skin. The SkinPen. will glide on the skin in specific directions until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with the SkinPen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, our certified specialist’s technique and the speed of the reciprocating SkinPen tip reduces discomfort while the post-treatment instructions will help make the procedure more tolerable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 30–60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the skins condition and the treatment area. Typically, patients are pinkish-red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
When will I see results?
Many patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to six months after the treatment series as collagen production continues.
How many treatments are needed?
In order to achieve optimal results, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3–4 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, your skin care provider may recommend 6–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals.
Am I a Candidate for SkinPen Microneedling?
SkinPen is FDA-cleared for all six skin types and tones, from the lightest to the deepest. This makes it one of the safest options of microneedling for dark skin tones, given the wide range of skin diversity.
You may be a good fit if you have acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, or uneven texture. Most adults in good general health qualify as good candidates for microneedling for acne scars after a brief consultation.
Who should not get microneedling? Microneedling contraindications include active acne breakouts, open wounds, a history of keloid scarring, and pregnancy. Blood-thinning medications or active skin care ingredients may also need to be paused beforehand.
What to Expect from the Waco SkinPen Procedure
At our Woodway Dr. office in Waco, TX, your professional microneedling treatment starts with a thorough cleanse followed by topical numbing cream applied 30 minutes before your session. This keeps the experience comfortable from start to finish.
Our provider uses the SkinPen device to create controlled micro-channels across the treatment area at precise, adjustable depths. This medical-grade microneedling process triggers your skin’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin deep within the dermal layers. Unlike at-home rollers, SkinPen’s sterile, single-use cartridge tip means every treatment meets strict clinical safety standards.
Sessions typically run 30–45 minutes. Mild redness and sensitivity follow for 24–72 hours, comparable to a light sunburn. Most clients return to their normal routine within a day. Skin texture and tone improve gradually over several weeks, with the best outcomes seen after a series of three treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
